The Love, Jill Memorial Scholarship exists to honor the life and legacy of Jill Littler — a woman defined by kindness, perseverance, and an unwavering love for family, community, and softball.
Our mission is to support graduating Beaver County softball players who embody those same values. This scholarship is about more than athletic performance. It is about character, compassion, resilience, and the impact a young person has on others.
The Love, Jill Memorial Scholarship was created to honor Jill's life and legacy by supporting graduating Beaver County softball players who reflect her values through character, perseverance, compassion, and love for others.
This scholarship is awarded to student-athletes who demonstrate who they are beyond the stat line — how they treat teammates, how they face challenges, and how they show up for others on and off the field.
Each year, one deserving student-athlete is selected to receive the Love, Jill Memorial Scholarship. This single annual award reflects a commitment to long-term sustainability — ensuring Jill's legacy continues to impact young women in Beaver County for generations to come.
The selection committee consists of family members and trusted individuals who knew Jill best — including her daughters, her mother, and a close family friend. Reviews are blind and use a standardized rubric. Bill (Jill's husband and founder of BCSN) acts as a non-voting advisor to ensure alignment with the mission of Love, Jill. Panelists recuse if they have a personal relationship with an applicant.
The Love, Jill Scholarship application process is simple and accessible. Applicants will be asked to provide:
Basic personal and academic information about yourself and your softball career.
Your softball participation history — teams, years played, and your experience.
A short written response reflecting on what "Love, Jill" means to you and how you strive to live those values.
August holds special meaning for the Love, Jill community. Each year, the Love, Jill Memorial 5K & 1-Miler brings friends, families, and supporters together to celebrate Jill's life and the love she gave so freely to others.
What began as a way to honor Jill will grow into a community tradition rooted in connection, remembrance, and purpose. Proceeds from the event directly support the Love, Jill Memorial Scholarship.
